Is the GIC mandatory for a Canadian study permit?+
Required under the SDS (Student Direct Stream) and strongly recommended for non-SDS applications. We use Scotiabank, ICICI, or CIBC depending on which has the fastest current turnaround.
What is the Provincial Attestation Letter (PAL) and how do I get one?+
Since 2024 most undergraduate and college applicants need a PAL from the province before IRCC will process their study permit. The college requests it on your behalf after you accept the offer — we track the request end-to-end.
Will my PG Diploma qualify for the PGWP?+
Yes if the college is a public DLI (Designated Learning Institution) and the programme is on the PGWP-eligible field-of-study list updated in 2024. Most private career colleges are excluded — we only shortlist public DLIs.
How much money do I need to show for a Canada study permit?+
As of 2024 IRCC requires CAD 20,635 in living costs plus first-year tuition, on top of the GIC. Funds can be in a savings account, education loan disbursement, or GIC certificate.
Can I bring my spouse to Canada as a student?+
Only if you are enrolled in a Masters, PhD, or select professional programmes. Undergraduate and college diploma students cannot bring a spouse on an open work permit under the 2024 rules.
How long does a Canada study permit take?+
SDS: 4–8 weeks. Non-SDS: 10–16 weeks. Biometrics add 2 weeks. We time application submission around IRCC's public processing tracker, not marketing promises.
Can I apply for PR while on a PGWP?+
Yes — Express Entry (CEC), Provincial Nominee Programs, and the new category-based draws (health, STEM, trades, French) are all valid PR routes once you have one year of skilled Canadian work experience.
Which Canadian provinces are best for PR after study?+
Ontario, British Columbia, and Alberta lead by employer volume. Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Atlantic provinces have easier PNP thresholds. We match province to your occupation, not to marketing brochures.
